Scope and Content
- 14 individual manuscripts in Irish.
- The most important manuscript is ms 14, Dubhaltach Mac Firbisigh’s Great Book of Irish Genealogies.
- The manuscripts were written by various scribes at various dates from the late 18th to early 20th century. The contents include much verse song and prayer.
- Ms 4 is a copy of the Irish life of St. Margaret.
- Ms 5, signed by Thomas Hurly and dated 1818 and 1820, contains notes on plants and cures, accounts in English and verse in Irish.
- Ms 11 is a copy of Bryan Merriman’s Cúirt an Mheadhan Oidhche, with a translation by Dennis Wolfe. This was written by Michael Hanrahan in Kilrush, County Clare in 1789.
